Contemporary wedding is very different from what our grandmothers and even parents experienced. In the past, not so much time was spent planning them, often involving families from both sides. The couple's choices were quite limited.

Almost anything is possible today.

The choices are so many that everyone has the opportunity to organize their dream wedding. However, many choices and options can become frustrating and tiring, especially if professional wedding planning is not involved. It is understandable why minimalism has become an important wedding style trend. If you imagine a lot of flowers at your wedding, rich table decor, lots of guests, and entertainment throughout the night, minimalism may not be the best choice. The art of simplification

The definition of minimalism is ambiguous, as this concept can be applied to lifestyle, fashion, and the interior. It focuses on getting rid of the unnecessary, focusing on the significance in each person's life. It is a simplification of an area of life, but it can also be a way of life in cases where all aspects of life are viewed through the prism of minimalism.

Why is minimalism at weddings a good idea?

There may be a variety of reasons why couples choose to integrate minimalism into their weddings. Probably, this lifestyle is already characteristic of the couple, so, understandably, that this approach will be leading in their wedding as well. Minimalism will also be a good solution for sustainable thinkers, as it will be an opportunity to reduce the use of resources and waste. Also, a minimalist approach can be very appropriate for weddings with a smaller budget or when the couple's priority is to divert funds to other purposes, such as a honeymoon or property purchase. Beauty is not only in luxury but also in simplicity. The clean lines are characteristic of minimalism; the range of muted and neutral tones and simple details look modern. At such a wedding, everyone's attention will focus on the young couple, and it is an opportunity to highlight the existing beauty of the party place without saturating the room with additional elements.

Different styles of minimalism

Many associate minimalism with empty spaces, white walls, and monotony, but minimalism does not have to be boring. It can take many forms, which means that you can choose the one that suits you best.

  1. Organic minimalism is dominated by many white colours with lush green accents. It will be suitable for weddings outdoors, under blooming apple trees, or in the garden of hydrangeas, roses, or other flowering shrubs. Nature will take care of the decorations itself;
  2. The main accent in industrial minimalism is on the urban environment and architecture. It can be slightly shabby, rustic style, materials used - concrete, glass, metal, wood. You can choose a country barn, castle ruins, or even a factory hangar as a wedding venue;
  3. Modern minimalism plays with different shapes and geometries;
  4. Romantic minimalism, on the other hand, focuses on the use of different fabrics, textures, and elegant calligraphy in invitations and table cards.

Colour palette

Most often, minimalism is characterized by a neutral colour palette - white, beige, grey, which gives the room space, softness, and airy look. This does not mean that you should avoid colours but remember that sharp contrasts and too many bright accents will not create the feeling of an oasis of peace typical of minimalism, but rather will create anxious emotions.

If you want to give the wedding a touch of colour, choose smoky and muted tones.

A grey ocean tone, a soft mint or lavender colour will refresh the room, while soft orange rust tones will suit autumn.
